Ready, Set, Paddle. Given your location, kayaking is one of the easiest outdoor activities to enter into with little investment. Many areas have some infrastructure of waterways that are full of natural beauty and wildlife waiting to be explored. Familiarize yourself with a local outfitter that supplies kayaks and canoes to your area, they will be a wealth of information on the surrounding areas lakes and rivers and will most likely offer 
rental kayaks for you to get started to see if kayaking is right for you. Kayaking offers enjoyment for all ages and skill levels whether you are retired looking for a gentle moonlight lake paddle with a group, or a young adventurer looking for the thrill of a rapid river, kayaking offers something for everyone. When planning a kayaking trip you will find your adventure will fall into 1 of these 5 categories: whitewater, surf, touring/expedition, light touring/day tripping and general recreation (including kayak fishing). If you have your own kayak and paddle you are probably familiar with the type of trip it can handle, considering not all kayaks are created equal consider what body of water and type of adventure you will be embarking on before you purchase or rent the appropriate kayak.
